The exhibit will be open to the public September 16th – October 2nd Tuesday through Friday from 10:00AM - 4:00PM

Much of what has been written on Richard Hambleton has focused on the Artist's early "public art". Hambleton's Mass Murder concept was revealed in the "chalk" outlines and blood splatter of "victims" which he painted on streets in over 15 cities from 1976-1979. For a time, Richard's works were found in major cities without the public being made aware of the conceptual nature behind them, or the name of the artist himself. Long had graffiti been seen in public spaces, but few artists exposed their works as opposed to exhibiting them as did Richard Hambleton. In the early 1980's, Richard began his "Shadowman" works. Each of over 400 dark, ominous figures were placed in an unexpected corner, alley, or side street. The "Shadowman" works became world famous, with Richard placing them not only all around New York City, but in France, Italy and even across both ends of the Berlin Wall.

Richard Hambleton has had many exhibitions, both solo and group, his work can be found in the permanent collections of the MoMA, Brooklyn Museum and the Houston Museum of Fine Art. He has exhibited at The Andy Warhol Museum, The Park Avenue Armory, The Milwaukee Art Museum, Harvard University and in the Biennale die Venezia in Italy. The Artist has been featured in Artforum, Art in America, International Herald Tribune, LIFE and People magazines and will be chronicled in the forthcoming book from Taschen Books, Trespass: A History of Uncomissioned Public Art by Carlo McCormick.
