The Bowery Hotel hosted the Humane Society of the United States' 5th Annual Cool vs. Cruel Awards Ceremony last night. Upon stepping into the downtown hotel's ballroom, I found myself surrounded by not only a plethora of friends, but also by the inventive designs of the talented young crop of designers engaged in the competition--all of them fur-free, of course. Ingrid Bergstrom-Kendrick of the Art Institute of Vancouver emerged victorious as the winner and amongst her rewards is a 5-day internship during New York Fashion Week with Victoria Bartlett, a fellow anti-fur designer.
My favorite snapshots from the night below. All pictures taken by Mark Iantosca.

Some of the fur-free designs entered into the competition.

Charlotte and Samantha Ronson.

My buddies Brett Marcus Coady and Tia Walker.

Mickey Boardman.

Sean Patrick Murray. Doesn't he look like he should be in Gossip Girl?

Maia Wojcik and her bf Ben.

Timo Weiland.

Erin Lucas.

Jared Flint.

Mandie Erickson.

Matt Kays.

A trio of uber-publicists: Umindi Francis from Karla Otto, Jenny Kim and Daniel Motta-Mello from PR Consulting.

Everyone was wearing these little red anti-fur buttons.

I hung mine on my necklace.

My liquid silver dress is by one of my fave young designers, Kimberly Taylor, who recently opened her very own store downtown in the Meatpacking District (400 W. 14th Street, NY, NY 212.944.6700).

I just got these booties from Topshop. They're surprisingly comfortable despite the height.
