We guess Padma Lakshmi won't be asking Gail Simmons what wine to pair with eggs florentine anytime soon; the Top Chef host and judge has confirmed her pregnancy. The challenge is no one can figure out who the father is...she has been linked to many high-powered, ahem...older men in the past, such as Salman Rushdie, a man named Manu Nathan (not very likely, since he is her cousin), and Teddy Forstmann.
Sketchier still is the statement her publicist released: "As a result of her condition, this pregnancy has been referred to by her physician as nothing short of a medical miracle, and due to its delicate nature, we ask/implore the press to respect Ms. Lakshmi's privacy at this time."
Having suffered for a long time with endometriosis, it was highly unlikely Padma would ever be able to bear children...so congrats! Genetics certainly won't be a problem when it comes to having an attractive kids, and we can totally see her telling future Padma, Jr. or Padmo to "pack your toys, and go." We not-so-secretly wish Tom Colicchio were the father...they would have awesome family brunches.
