I am convinced there is some kind of magic potion in the color they put on my head at the salon. Every time I get my color done, I feel so rejuvenated. For some of you it the trick might be going to the gym or getting a massage, but for me, it's all about my color.
That being said, last week I decided that after ten years, it was time for a change. After living with very dark brown, almost black hair for most of my life, I was ready to soften my look.
It was a lengthy process done very carefully by Andrew Serrano and Christy Marino at Cutler Salon (212-308-3838). The specific process that I had done is not something that can be done in just one visit to the salon. For me, it took a good four times to get to the level they were satisfied with, and I'll admit, there were moments throughout this process when my nerves shook a bit, but their perfectionism always put me at ease.
As far as this magic potion they call color, my advice is stick to the professionals. It is always best to have a thorough (complimentary) consultation first and don't be afraid to ask the price when there is such a wide range possible. If you are worried about salon etiquette, don't be. When you are dealing with highlights, and corrective colors, the last thing you need is an unwanted surprise at the front desk.
Here is a picture of my new color. Judge for yourself.
