General Site Questions

  1. What is StyleCaster?

    2. StyleCaster is the fastest growing platform in the fashion and lifestyle space. Launched in June 2009, the site is a one-stop source for personal style that combines the best of social networking with personalized content and shopping. StyleCaster brings style to the people through its platform where consumers and style enthusiasts can connect, share, explore, and recommend. StyleCaster helps filter and curate the style experience--with every click, the style experience is tailored for each individual.

    3. Becoming a member of StyleCaster is free and easy! Click on "Register" anywhere on the homepage and follow the steps to creating your account.

    4. Once logged in, the content being showed is specifically tailored toward you. Additionally, if you are not registered you will not be able to create your My StyleCast profile page.

  4. What do I do if I forgot my password?

    5. On the Login page, click "Forgot Password" and you will be prompted to enter your email address. Your password will be sent to your email. If you continue to have problems you can email us at .

  7. When I'm logged in, what information is being shown in the left column of the site?

    8. This column displays your name, profile picture, number of Style Points, total views, people you influence, and influencers as well as the things you most recently loved.

  8. What shows up in the Notifications module?

    9. The Notifications module is a newsfeed of what the influencers you are following are doing on StyleCaster.

  9. What categories of information can I explore on StyleCaster?

    10. StyleCaster covers everything from fashion and beauty to lifestyle and music. By navigating throughout the website, you will be able to explore Fashion, News, Shop, People, Events, and TV.

Using StyleCaster

  1. What does the heart next to articles, products, outfits, and people mean?

    2. By clicking on the heart, you are indicating that you love this item. After clicking on the heart, that item, product, or outfit will then be added to your Stylecast page. If you click on the heart next to a person, they will be added to your community as someone who influences your style. StyleCaster will also learn about the things you like and provide you with more similar items in the future.

  2. How do I search for a news article?

    3. At any time, you can use the Search Box in the upper left-hand corner of the site to look for a news article.

  3. How do I share a news article?

    4. Share your favorite news articles with friends by clicking on any of the Love, Facebook, Twitter icons located at the top of the article, to the right of the title.

  4. Can I read articles from the News section if I'm not logged in?

    5. Yes. Be sure to register and login so you can save your favorite articles.

    9. You can filter your search by using the top navigation bar and choosing "Clothes," "Shoes", "Bags," etc.

    10. In the Shop, click on the Designer Index tab and browse through your favorite designers. You can also use the Search Box in the upper left-hand corner of the site to look for a specific brand or designer.

    12. On the Looks page, you can click on each of the five body shapes and determine which one most closely resembles your own.

    16. Related products are those that share similar characteristics to whatever you are looking at. These products are also chosen based on what we have learned about your style.

    17. Exclusive sales are special deals we have arranged for StyleCaster members.

    18. On any Product Detail page, below the image of the product, you will see, "Where to buy". By clicking on the link below "Where to buy" you will be directed to a store that sells the item you are looking to purchase.

  18. What if there is no "Where to buy" link?

    19. This means that this product has not been credited yet. If you know where to buy this item click "Please tell us" and let us know!

  19. Am I directly purchasing products through StyleCaster?

    20. No. For every product in our Shop, we provide details for where you can purchase them. StyleCaster will never ask you for your credit card information.

  20. Does StyleCaster have both men and women's products and outfits available?

    21. Currently, StyleCaster is only offering women's products and outfits. However, we will soon be expanding to include men's.

  21. In the Shop, what are Trends?

    22. A Trend is a fashion theme or style we find exciting. Exploring a Trend, you'll find out what experts are saying about it, products that go along with it and Looks that showcase different ways to wear it.

    23. These are the most popular products on StyleCaster on any given day.

  23. What is the Most Popular Look Today?

    24. These are the most popular looks on StyleCaster on any given day.

  24. How do I explore Looks?

    25. Choose from the collection of attributes to filter your search. You can also click on any outfit to be shown more details on which products are included in that look.

  25. How are the Daily Looks put together?

    26. StyleCaster works with all the top brands from across the industry. Top stylists, designers, models, makeup artists and hair stylists collaborate in our studio to produce these looks.

  26. How can I add someone to my network?

    27. Similar to adding an item to your closet, if you want to add someone to your network and follow them on StyleCaster, you can click on the heart next to his or her name.

  27. Does someone have to approve my adding him or her to my network?

    28. No. StyleCaster's network is different from the friendship networks of web 2.0; it is an influence network rather than a social network. By adding someone and following them on StyleCaster, you receive updates on their activity, contributions, and the products and articles they love.

  28. What does it mean if someone adds me as an influencer?

    29. If someone has added you as an influencer, they will be able to see when you update your profile or closet, thus allowing them to be influenced by your style. Your online activity on StyleCaster will also be shown in their Notification Box.

  29. How do I know if someone is following me?

    30. On your Home page under your profile picture, the number next to 'People You Influence' indicates how many people are following you.

  30. What does the Total Views count signify?

    31. This number indicates how many people have looked at your StyleCaster profile since you have registered.

  31. How do I find outfits I've previously loved?

    32. They will be in "My Closet" within the users StyleCast Page.

  32. How do I create an Inspiration Board?

    33. If its your first time on StyleCaster, visit your My StyleCast page. You will see the area where your Inspiration Board will live has an image in it that you can click to begin uploading your stylish photos. You can also always use the navigation in your My StyleCast that says Photos and upload images to your Inspiration Board album.

  33. How do I become a Featured StyleCaster?

    34. Featured StyleCasters are selected based on StylePoints and popularity among the StyleCaster community.

  34. How are the Most Stylish People Today chosen?

    35. The Most Stylish People Today are chosen based on their popularity within the Community, the number of people they are influencing and Daily Mirrors.

  35. How does StyleCaster determine what is "Most Popular"?

    36. Most Popular articles, outfits, and people are determined by the accumulation of style points, which are based on how many people like it and how many people view it. Click here <Insert link that will take them to the points page> to view the points page.

    37. Here, you will be offered a list of the most up-to-date content available on StyleCaster.

    39. Daily Mirror is your chance to show your style to the world. Every day, you can upload a picture of yourself - your outfits, your style.

    40. On the Daily Mirror page, click on "Upload a New Photo". By following the steps, you will be able to choose a file on your computer, crop and add a description, and tag the items that make up this look.
