When I woke up this morning to check the new London shows on Style.com, I kind of freaked out when I came across Julien Macdonald's genius runway--he's not one that I usually wait for on the edge of my seat, but this season, his collection recalls the best parts of all my favorite designers (Balmain! Rodarte! Givenchy!) and adds his own special touch. The spiderweb knits were to die, and the spiky strong shoulders on his perfectly tailored jackets had me coming back to look again and again. It was sexy and smart and projected the image of a woman who is a force to be reckoned with--everything ...

London has always been known for it's club-kid scene (i.e. hellloooo, Gareth Pugh, I love you)--I should know--on my first trip there, I managed to hit just about every club in town, getting a collective five hours of sleep in a week. Sigh. The good old days. Looks like the city is bringing back that party vibe via 2009 runway. Check out the punk-inspired hair on the Luella runway and on Alice Dellal on the Issa runway. Makes me long to bring my glowsticks back......oh, who am I kidding, these prissy hands have never touched a pair of glowsticks in their sheltered little lives. If only I was t ...

Sienna and Savannah Miller have gotten some flak about the lack of "creativity" in their first runway showing, but personally I thought that just because the looks weren't as outlandishly wild as those of most of their fellow Londoners, doesn't necessarily mean they're all that bad. I love the wearability of the looks, and I'm guessing that the fact that most of the pieces look like they've been taken straight off the back of Ms. Sienna Miller herself will make them fly off the racks.
These are some of my favorite party-girl looks off the ladies' first runway. What do you think?

You know how there are certain models and actresses that just don't seem to age no matter how many years go by? Winona Ryder, for example. Or Claudia Schiffer. I mean, I grew up watching these women and they look just about EXACTLY the same as they did when I was seven years old flipping through the pages of YM. Seeing this picture of Kate Moss front row at the Vivienne Westwood show in London today, I had to wonder, "How is it possible that even with her hard-partying, chain-smoking ways, Moss still looks like she could pass for 21?!"
And then I studied the picture and studied it some more. A ...

I'm not usually a big fan of Henry Holland's (otherwise known as bff of Aggy Deyn) designs for London-based brand House of Holland. I think it's because, despite my best efforts to prove otherwise sometimes, I really left my club-kid days behind a number of years ago. Yes, day-glo colors, skin-tight spandex, and outrageous prints have left my closet, probably never to return. That's why I was pretty surprised this morning to find some looks on Holland's runway that I could definitely get behind, even now in my mid-20s. Specifically, this lovely little sheer floral jumper on the equally lovely ...

There's nothing like watching already-ridiculously-thin models work out to get you in the mood to whip your own butt into shape. This is exactly the scene that awaited London Fashion Week attendees upon entering "Stella's Gym," a showcase to the brand new adidas by Stella McCartney collection for spring 2009. Not only were there different stations for varying types of sports, there were personal trainers on hand adding to the mix. Specifically, the brand introduced the new adidas by Stella McCartney trainer, Tracy Anderson, who works out with the likes of Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow. You can o ...

In a sea of gorgeous and glittering party dresses, perfectly coiffed hair, and sparkling accessories that can be seen on any given night in New York City, one of the most challenging things about getting oneself dressed and ready to go for a night out on the town is making sure that one stands out in said sea. It is alarmingly easy to blend in with the crowd (read: boring) even if perfectly put together with a stunning dress, shoes, etc. That's why Christopher Kane's show was so refreshing to see. In a number of looks, the man solves this age-old NYC conundrum with flair and ease. Considering ...

What a sight for sore eyes/tired post-NY-fashion-week spirits/Wall Street financial ruin/etc/etc. Looking at Luella Bartley's Spring 2009 collection when I got into the office this morning literally lifted my mood and made me think of prom dresses, garden parties, and cool girls with a liberal sprinkling of purposeful eccentricity. My favorite dress in the line up came towards the end on Kim Noorda in the form of the frothy one-shoulder confection pictured above.
Also, the hats! I'm obsessed. Good-bye feathered headbands, hello bow hats with veils. Love, love, love. ...
