This season, 50 is the new 40. On February 14, just after the start of Fall 09 Fashion Week, one of fashion’s most famous icons, Barbie, turns 50. As a prize, he was awarded $200,000 to use towards building his business and a years worth of coaching and mentoring from a yet-to-be-assigned industry vet. Diane Von Furstenberg embraced the hippie ideal when she sent her flower children down the runway. The hair was gorgeously wrapped in strands of silk flowers and feathers strung from leather cords. The collection is whimsical and happy--a nice interlude to most collections I’ve seen this week and a reminder that DVF will always design for a girly-girl. Just when I thought I was finally ready to retire this from my style personality for the upcoming chilly weather, I’m reminded that it will be Spring again in no time. ...
