You know when you’re on the subway and the passenger next to you sneezes? And then you get in your work elevator and a fellow worker starts coughing? You just know you’re going to get sick. Personally I’ll do anything to not touch the handle on a cab door due to potential germs. And I’d rather stumble on the subway than actually touch one of the handrails. But in wintertime it’s inevitable that you’re going to get sick at least once. You start feeling feverish, then you get a stuffy nose, maybe a cough, and then you officially have a cold. It all started Friday night, with a piece of carrot cake. And then the next day there was a bagel and way too many vodkas on the rocks to remember. Which, of course lead to Sunday’s bagel, Thai food, and peanut butter M & Ms. My health food kick had gone to hell in a breadbasket. Since reading the Skin Deep article in the New York Times, and with my friend Jenna’s encouragement, I’ve decided to do The Master Cleanse. Ok, so I know it’s my job to write about beauty products. But I have a secret, while I love to try them out, I don’t actually use very many on a regular basis. I would rather go to Physique 57 in the morning than spend time applying makeup. And by the time the weekend rolls around, I’m way too exhausted from work to put much effort in. I rely on just three things to pull myself together: Visine, ice cold water, and La Mer lip balm. See, I once read an interview with Demi Moore where she said that she can’t live without eye drops. In the past few months my wardrobe has been gradually shifting. I don’t have much interest in anything that isn’t black or Alexander Wang. Take today for example, I’m wearing torn black tights, black boots, a short black skirt, and an oversized gray vintage sweater. A far cry from my hippie-dippy California roots. Hence why I’m obsessed with the new Rock and Republic cosmetic line. The hip clothing brand’s just launched makeup line includes everything a bad girl needs to be after-dark ready.
