To my girlfriends and I, Sarah Jessica Parker will forever be known as Carrie Bradshaw from HBO’s Sex and The City. The show had a huge impact on my generation and on my personal life. I think on some level, I decided to move to New York because of the show and I fell in love with the concept of styling because of the show’s ingenious costume designer Patricia Field. What’s this? MTV is playing music again!? After MTV announced TRL’s final show would be a two hour special on November 16th, it seemed that MTV had officially lost sight of its original purpose with shows like, “Wade Robson Project” and “Real World/Road Rules Challenge” for people who have their 15 minutes of fame in a chokehold. However, MTV has stepped up their usual MTV.com content by adding a channel exclusively dedicated to music videos with the redundant name: MTVmusic.com. Music Television Music? Alright, whatever. Was it a Halloween stunt, or were the guys of MGMT just wearing their normal tour outfits of full Mexicana regalia last night? When the crew hit the stage, Laney and I looked at each other and broke into our best Three Amigos impressions (“Loooook up here!”) and then into peals of laughter. The Three Amigos is one of those classic, tacky-funny films from the 1980s (like Coming to America with Eddie Murphy) that, if you saw around the time it was made, is probably one of your favorite comedies of all time; but if you didn’t catch it during that window, probably seems incredibl ...

Get me to Dragon Fly on a warm Los Angeles Sunday to listen to the Spazmatics (i.e., the best 80s cover band ever) and I will stay there all night. But truthfully, other than rare instances like that, I'm not exactly the biggest live music fan. Last night, The Suicide, the opening act for MGMT, reminded me as to why I opt out. As I stood there wondering how I found myself in this predicament, feeling the band's pounding/screaming music in my throat, I couldn’t help but think about the goth trend that seems to be just about everywhere.
